I was walking around Bukit Mertajam when I spotted this older Suzuki Jimny SJ30. It looks to be the SJ30 Sierra model which was available in the early 1990s.
The car wasn’t in perfect condition, but paintwork was still gleaming and it seemed to be kept in the shade.
Because of the Jimny’s reputation was a rugged off-roader, it can get away with a little dirt and mud caked on. In fact, it looks better this way.
The SJ30 was Suzuki’s 2nd-generation Jimny and was available with smaller displacement inline 3 and inline 4 engines. Earlier engines were no larger than 539cc, but they later moved into 1 to 2 litre territory. This particular one is a Jimny 1300 with a 1.3-litre inline-4 Suzuki G engine. They put out between 67hp/100Nm to 86hp/115Nm depending on which variant of the motor it was.
We have a post about older generation Suzuki Jimnys here and you can read about the retro-inspired new Jimny here.
