Malaysian electric vehicle (EV) owners can now easily find more car charging points in Singapore with the installation of 24 high-speed charging points in 6 buildings. The plan is to increase the number charging points to 1,000 by 2020. The charging points include both 43kW Alternating Current (AC) and high-powered 50kW Direct Current (DC) chargers that can fully charge an EV car in 30 minutes.
Singapore electric car ownerships has risen from 360 units in 2017 to 466 units in 2018 and it is expected to double in 2019. Electric vehicle drivers can locate and access available charging points via the SP app, which can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
So how much does it cost? Well the rates are SG41.4 cents and SG47.3 cents per kWh for its AC and DC chargers. SP Group says that electric car drivers will see about a 50% cost savings when compared to the cost of petrol in Singapore.
