After launching the new Tracer 900 GT, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) took everyone by surprise with the introduction of the new YZF-R25 bike at its Chinese New Year dinner in Genting Highland.
The new model was first launched in Indonesia in October last year. For the Malaysian market, the official pricing will be finalised and announced this March.
Aesthetics-wise, the R25 now comes with a more aggressive appearance thanks to the new design language inspired by the YZF-R1 superbike. The quarter-liter bike also gains front and rear LED lights, and new hazard lights for added safety.
Other upgrades come in the form of inverted front forks and rear monoshock with adjustable preload, as well as digital multi-function LCD instrument panel with shift timing light.
Mechanically, the R25 retains the 249 cc parallel-twin engine that makes 35.5 hp at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 NNm of torque at 10,000 rpm. The bike is available in Metallic Blue and Matte Red.
