Saudi Arabia marks Jaguar’s history with the world’s first all- electric production based international race series, supported by FIA Formula E Championship. The series will see entrants compete in a race prepared Jaguar I-PACE, maintained by Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations team, with the races taking place on the same weekends and at the same city street circuits as the Formula E championship.
Wearnes Automotive Pte. Ltd. sponsors Team Asia New Zealand, alongside Sri Lanka and New Zealand, with a specially designed Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY car. With Simon Evans at the helm, he led the team to victory in 23mins + 1 lap and won the first race of the season.
Simon Evans, Team Asia New Zealand driver said, “It feels amazing to win the race from pole to flag – it’s very special. It wasn’t an easy race, and it just shows from the practice times and the race itself, the pack is incredibly close. The very first win is the one everyone wants and hopefully we can continue the momentum to the next race in Mexico.”
The New All-Electric Jaguar I-PACE has won over 30 global awards, including the German Car of the Year and the prestigious BBC Top Gear “EV of the Year”. The Jaguar I-PACE is missioned and committed to change the global standards of an EV car.
“Wearnes Automotive is committed to zero-emissions, and what better way to align ourselves with the future than with the brand that has taken its vision to the race track with the incredible Jaguar I- PACE eTROPHY,” says Corinne Chua, General Manager, Wearnes Automotive. “We are thrilled to have our very own car on the track – it’s even more exciting that our driver is the brother of the brilliant Mitch Evans; we can look forward to an amazing race season.”
