UMW Toyota Recalls Prius 1.8 for Hybrid Software Update

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Malaysia, today announced a special service campaign (recall) to update the hybrid software of Toyota Prius. UMWT has assured that the safety of their customers is always Toyota’s top priority.

This recall is conducted to update the software used to control the hybrid system in Prius 1.8 Hybrid variant.

A total of 6,160 units of Prius 1.8 Hybrid manufactured from year 2009 – 2013 sold in Malaysia by UMW Toyota Motor is involved in this campaign. This recall serves to provide an additional remedy to the vehicles involved in the previous recall announced in 2014.

Although there have not been any reported cases in Malaysia, UMW Toyota Motor will be conducting this campaign to ensure their customers’ vehicles remain reliable and at its best performance level.

UMWT will notify all its affected vehicle owners officially to update the ECU programming at no charge. The work should take around an hour.

For further information, owners of affected cars can contact any authorised Toyota service centre or call the Toyota Freephone at 1800-8-TOYOTA (869682).
