Ford Ranger’s Third Quarter Sales Jump 61 Percent as Strong Demand Continues

The segment-defining Ford Ranger pickup truck proved its continuing popularity in Malaysia in the third quarter as retail sales rose 61 percent from the previous year to 2,245 vehicles sold.

The strong sales helped Ranger boost its share of the pickup segment for the quarter up 1.1 percentage points from the same period a year ago to 15.3 percent.

“The Ranger is helping to drive the strength of the overall segment, which certainly plays to our global strengths and expertise in trucks,” said Truong Kim Phong, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company. “The toughness, capability, and comfort of the Ranger continues to set the benchmark for the one-tonne pickup truck sector.”

The ‘Built Ford Tough’ Ranger is one of the best-selling pickups in the market, attracting a wide range of customers who appreciate the versatility that make it suitable for a wide range of work demands and lifestyles.

“The Ranger’s appeal in Malaysia remains strong,” said Syed Ahmad Muzri Bin Syed Faiz, managing director, Sime Darby Auto Connexion. “We’re confident its momentum will continue in Malaysia with the launch of the new Ranger later this month.”

To better support Ranger customers across the country, Ford and Sime Darby Auto Connexion are continuing efforts to further enhance the ownership experience, including ongoing expansion and upgrades to Ford dealerships nationwide.

Over the past year, Ford and Sime Darby Auto Connexion have announced the opening of four new and upgraded Ford dealer facilities, including Acecourt Auto Sdn Bhd (Acecourt Auto), SNS Kembara Utama Sdn Bhd (SNS Kembara), Sime Darby Auto Connexion (Kuching) and Sime Darby Auto Connexion (Kota Kinabalu).
