2Proton’s SUV, ‘Boyue’ will be priced from RM98,000 to RM115,000
The soon to be launched Proton SUV which will come initially as a fully imported unit will have some segment firsts in its cabin to compete with the established SUV brands in Malaysia.
This Proton SUV will be equipped with a smart air purifier, tyre pressure monitoring system, 360-degree camera and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will be ready to deliver 4G connectivity, online apps and a variety of smartphone apps. All this joins the list of existing driver assistant services, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and auto high beam.
Under the front hood of both variants (there will be 2 variants) will be a 1.8-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that will deliver 181bhp and 285Nm of torque working with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will be a crossover first and a SUV second. Initial production coming from China with many parts sourced from Malaysian vendors (yes, already a number of Malaysian vendors have been qualified, audit & contracted to supply components to Geely which have been shipped across to China for assembly) will be 30,000 units. So, there will be enough units to cater for the first wave of buyers who want their fully imported (CBU) Proton SUV.
