Boon Siew Honda introduces the new Honda PCX. The urban modern commuter scooter, Honda PCX has always been a platform for Honda to showcase its latest technological feature of which will be available to the masses.  The new PCX would undeniably pamper owners with features that are different to the model prior. Combine that with luxurious feels, performance, and ease of use; the new PCX would undoubtedly fulfill both your need and desire. This agile and compact scooter wriggles through town traffic with ease, taking you to where you need to be in style – and on time.

The new PCX is built around an all-new, lighter, steel duplex cradle frame. It boasts of a shorter wheelbase, improved maneuverability and road feedback. The new suspension provides a more comfortable ride, coupled with the new 14-inch alloy wheel which offers a premium level of riding.

It is now offered in two new exciting colors: Euphoria Red Metallic and Radiate Grey Metallic, and also in the previously popular Pearl Metalloid White.

Styling wise, the new PCX gets a make-over with new body panels for a premium and sharper, yet a sportier look. Enhancing the new look, the PCX receives a compact dual LED headlights with an integrated  Daytime Running Light and LED tail light which feature a new design. This is done to ensure greater visibility of the rider by other road user aside from personal comfort.

The under-seat storage area features a 25-litre lockable compartment. For ease of access, the seat now is propped-up by a spring-loaded hinge, enabling the rider to conveniently store personal items. In keeping with the theme of practicality, the storage area can even accommodate a full-face helmet. An integral 12-volt adaptor is now incorporated within the front glove box for the convenience of charging your personal electronic device while on the move.

Along with the ingenuity of the front glove box, the front central console houses an inverted-type fully digital speedometer which neatly highlights all the essential information. The information display consists of engine warning light, oil change reminder, a digital clock, odometer, Idling Stop System indicator, and a digital fuel gauge to calculate fuel consumption accurately.

New to the PCX is the SMART Key System which incorporates the feature of former model such as the anti-theft alarm and answer-back system which help owners locate their scooter from a distance away.  The new SMART Key System now features a keyless starting procedure which replaces the traditional key starter system.

The new PCX features an 8-litre fuel tank enabling its range capacity as a long distance commuter scooter. Additionally, a number of features have been added to further improve its fuel efficiency. Among them is the idling stop system, which briefly ceases fuel supply to the engine after being idle for three seconds.  Power will be restored once the throttle has been twist. The restored power will be supplied by Honda very own liquid cooling and Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) engine which is a great performer in all traffic conditions.  Tests conducted under a controlled environment by the manufacturer suggest that the PCX could reach an acclaimed 51.2 km/l with idle stop system activated.

Engine power is delivered through the Honda V-Matic Dry Type Automatic Centrifugal Clutch transmission to the rear wheel. The V-Matic transmission has been revised to further expand the range of gear ratios. It delivers smooth acceleration in the low-speed, and as you progress through mid to high-speed range you get stronger acceleration; ideal for a quick boost when overtaking.

The 149 cc SOHC 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine has a bore and stroke of 57.300 mm x 57.907 mm with a compression ratio of 10.6: 1. It generates 14.5 hp (10.8 kW) at 8,500 rpm and punches 13.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Engine oil capacity is 0.9 liter.

The 764 mm height and narrow waist make for easy ground access and parking lot maneuver for the, 923 mm long, 745 mm wide and 1,107 mm high scooter. With a 27-degree rake and short 19 mm trail, the PCX150 is easily manoeuvrable.

Hydraulically dampened, telescopic forks float the front end and dual, coil-over shocks spring the rear and dampen the swing-mount drive unit.

A hydraulic caliper binds the brake disc up front with a drum brake at the rear, a typical setup for scooters. It rides on 14 M/C x MT2.15 front tires with a 14 M/C x MT3.50 rear tyre. Ground clearance is 137 mm for the 130 kg scooter.
