Parking is getting tougher in urban centers around the world. Whether downtown car parks or individual roadside car parking spots, the search for a parking space in the heart of the city or office areas needs to be made as easy as possible to reduce driver stress. Bosch is using innovative technology and digital expertise to create new parking services.
The average driver today is spending more hours circling the city area more than ever, searching for an open parking spot. German parts supplier Bosch arrived at the recent 2018 CES show promoting its solution, currently being tested in Germany and later this year in LA, Miami, Boston, and more American cities.
Problem is…will it work in our Malaysians parking conditions where;
- Motorcycles park in designated car park lots
- People will stand in an open car park space ‘booking’ the space for a family or friend who is circling around again.
- Other cars parked do not keep to their individual boxed space.
- This Bosch APP signal might get slow with 4G services being wonky
However, Bosch feels that….as they drive through an urban environment, cars with its technology can measure the gaps between parked vehicles and provide a live update to a map, which can be accessed by all. If widely adopted, the technology wouldn’t just allow you to waste less time searching for a spot, but it would mean less idling cars creating pollution at any time, too.
