What Is ‘iPerformance’? We explain.

The BMW Plug-in Hybrid range, also known as iPerformance, takes the best of BMW’s combustion engines, using renowned EfficientDynamics, and marries it to modern battery technology and an electric motor.

The result is a BMW vehicle with two power sources, but more so, it’s a totally responsive drive, with some what zero emissions when you need it and power delivery at the point of real need.

What is a plug-in hybrid?

A plug-in hybrid vehicle is any car that is driven by two power sources. In the case of BMW iPerformance models, this is achieved by the use of a small electric engine working in tandem with a BMW petrol engine. The advantage to hybrid cars over conventional cars is that the same level of performance is delivered with lower running costs and reduced emissions. At the same time, hybrid cars offer the same excellent range and convenience of a model with a traditional engine.

Hybrid battery life.

When it comes to range, BMW’s lithium-ion batteries vary depending on the nature and driving style of the driver. However, with BMW EfficientDynamics and different driving modes, such as eDrive, you’ll always get the optimum combination of responsiveness and fuel consumption.

Plug-in hybrids are for all situations. They’re do-it-all vehicles that can be both economically-friendly EVs while also being long-distance cruisers with equal aplomb.

Why would we want a plug-in hybrid?

The average Malaysian in Klang Valley or any bit city drives about 40-45 kilometers a day. Those are statistics shared by most automotive companies who have plug-in hybrids in their showrooms. For these drivers, the average plug-in hybrid has enough electric range to get them from home to work and back without charging in between. However, if they need take a road trip that will be a few hundred kilometers, you don’t need to stop every few hours and wait 45 minutes while the car charges. Just stop, fill up on premium petrol and get to where you need to go.
