About 300 metres away from the Alam Sutera LRT station, right by what the locals call ‘Nail Alley’, lies a very peculiar vehicle from a very peculiar country. Most people familiar with the area know of the car, but I only noticed it today, despite driving past that way at least half a dozen times in the last year.
The car? A Lada Niva.
Well it’s more of an SUV. A PROPER SUV too, not one of those crossovers. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Lada in real life, not in Malaysia, nor in my travels elsewhere. Seeing one rusting so casually next to an old Kia was really quite surreal.
The first time I read about the Lada Niva was as a child around the age of 10. This and the Ssangyong Musso were two of my favourite SUV designs. I was a child, please do not judge.
This Russian/Soviet-made SUV has quite a reputation for being a simple, hardy thing. It’s based off a lot of French parts, with engines being fairly small (below 2000cc).
Anyway, as you can see, this particular Niva has a couple of fans of its own.
As I was taking shots of the car, a man walked up from Nail Alley and asked what my problem was. I told him the car was quite rare.
He seemed more interested in selling me the Kia next to it. When I told him I was only interested in taking pictures of the Lada, he told me it belonged to his foreman and walked away. I did too. Cars like these… well, they’re just interesting to look at and that’s it.
I was interesting the Lada Niva car for buying & the price please. Kindly contact me this number 013-9260391
