There are reports that a Bentayga Hybrid is only a few months away from being unveiled. Details on the powertrain are still scarce, but it is thought that Bentley will use the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid drivetrain since both brands sit under the VW Group. The Porsche drivetrain uses a 326hp, 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V-6 with a 134hp electric motor to make a system total of 456hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. When fully charged, the Panamera E-Hybrid can drive up to 30 miles on electric power alone.
Imagine this SUV coming to Malaysia, getting a SKD (partial assembly) program and being sold with EEV incentives courtesy of the mighty MAI docket. It could be on sale from a ‘waiting list prompting’ RM998,000 since its asking price is a shy USD200,000 and our Ringgit has just moved to just below RM4.00 to the dollar!
The Bentayga has become the brand’s most popular model, with sales of 5,586 in 2016. Bentley hasn’t released figures for 2017, but overall sales for the brand were slightly down at 7,498 in the nine months to the end of September, VW Group reported in its interim financial statement.
