Alfa Romeo has just issued a recall on a few hundred Giulias and Stelvios that may have been filled with contaminated brake fluid from the factory. With no brand owner in Malaysia, the few Giulia owners here will be left wondering if their sexy super sedan will stop or not.
Alfa’s internal investigation found that the brake fluid is contaminated with mineral oil. Over time this oil could (and most likely will) damage the brake system and eventually lead to brake failure. The vehicles involved are all 2018 models manufactured in November 2017.
Owners of affected cars will be contacted directly by the company to begin the recall process. Alfa Romeo says the cars will be returned to the dealer for a brake inspection and full system replacement if necessary. The recall report states that decreased brake performance may provide a warning prior to a complete failure, and in the event of a failure, a warning light should appear on the dash.
