Boon Siew Honda Sdn. Bhd. (BSH), a manufacturer and distributor of Honda’s motorcycle in Malaysia, today marked a historical milestone of 60 years of Honda’s motorcycle business in Malaysia, and 5 millionth unit productions in Penang.
The ceremony was presented by Dato Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Minister of International Trade and Industry II (MITI), Dato Surveyor Haji Rozali bin Haji Mohamad, President of Municipal Council of Seberang Perai, , H.E Kiyoshi Itoi, Consul General of Japan in Penang, Datuk Loh Kian Chong, Executive Chairman of Oriental Holding Berhad, Mr. Seiji Kuraishi, Executive Vice President, Executive Officer & Representative Director of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Dato’ Seri Loh Cheng Yean, Chairman of Boon Siew Honda and Mr. Nobuhide Nagata, Managing Director and CEO of Boon Siew Honda Sdn. Bhd.
Important milestone of Honda’s Motorcycle in Malaysia:
1957 Boon Siew Sdn. Bhd. (BSW) began import sales of Honda motorcycle
1958 BSW obtained distributorship of Honda motorcycles in Malaysia
1969 Honda and BSW formed a technical collaboration and Kah Motor Sdn. Bhd.
began final assembly of motorcycles in Malaysia contracted by BSW.
1986 Cumulative production reached 1 million units
1999 Cumulative production reached 2 million units
2007 Cumulative production reached 3 million units
2008 Established Boon Siew Honda Sdn. Bhd. (BSH)
2011 Cumulative production reached 4 million units
2013 Began motorcycle manufacturing at the new plant in Batu Kawan
2017 Cumulative production reached 5 million units and celebrates 60 anniversary of Honda motorcycle business in Malaysia
