At first glance you might be mistake this new VW Touareg for the all new VW Tiguan ….but only at first glance. Once you see its size and width then you will realize it is larger that the Tiguan with similar lines and chunky proportions. On the road of course it will be difficult difficult to tell these 2 SUVs apart. At 199.6 inches (5,070mm) long, 78.7 inches (1,999mm) wide and 67.2 inches (1,707mm) tall, the concept is considerably longer (+ 6.7 inches or 171mm), a bit wider (+1.3 inches or 34mm), but also 1.5 inches or 40mm lower than today’s 2nd-generation Touareg.
Production of this new SUV started this month, November with first deliveries expected later next year. Engine and powertrain options for it are likely to include the 2.0L plug-in hybrid PHEV drivetrain and modified versions of the previous generation model.
The PHEV expected for the new Touareg will probably produce 381bhp and near 700Nm of torque. This PHEV drivetrain will allow up to 50 miles of fully electric driving and be capable of up to 94mpg combined fuel economy. This Touareg will go from 0-100km/h in 6 seconds and have a top speed of 250km/h.
All versions are expected to have all-wheel drive functionality as a standard feature.
