The CLS is a relatively new type of car for Mercedes-Benz. When the first generation was shown, it broke ground and changed the sedan market forever. It had the high-end appeal and kit of an S-Class with the drivability of an E-Class and the looks of a coupe. It had a roofline so bold Jaguar had to redraw the XJ’s design.
Yes, there’s no denying the first CLS was an amazing vehicle – one that has aged gracefully. The second CLS? Well, it’s not particularly bad, but a lot of Benz sedans share coupe characteristics now, so the 2nd gen CLS doesn’t quite stand out as much.
This next one might be a return to form though. A teaser of the design shows that it completely breaks away from the current design language. We’ve already shown some images over the weekend, but have a look at the newly released teaser video anyway:
