This weekend’s Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) not only promises to be one of the most exciting and fun weekends for motor racing enthusiasts and celebrity chasers but will be an especially rewarding one with lots of prizes to be won including a brand new Vios Sports Edition for a lucky visitor.
To qualify, one just has to attend the Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival, fill in a form and answer a few simple questions. The correctly answered forms will then be eligible to win an awesome Vios Sports Edition that is styled similar to the Vios Challenge race cars.
The entire weekend will be packed with motor racing action, drift performances, celebrity appearances, stage games and so much more for everyone in the family. Food lovers too will be treated to some two dozen top food trucks offering an array of delectable local and international fare ranging from brewed coffee to coconut shakes; from nasi kukus to kimchi fried rice.
The highlight of the weekend will certainly be the Vios Challenge races, particularly the Super Sporting Category where most of Malaysia’s top racing drivers will be competing for the honour of wresting the very first Vios Challenge title. In MAEPS, they will be going all out to dethrone the Prince of Drift Tengku Djan and ensure he does not repeat his clean sweep of the races like he did in the opening event in Batu Kawan in August.
With a wider circuit, longer straights and elevation changes, the course this weekend will likely favour the daring challengers namely Mark Darwin of Dreamchaser Team and William Ho, the two championship chasers who will be out to prevent a whitewash by Djan this time around.
Joining the fray will be veteran racer Keifli Othman who had to skip the opening event in Batu Kawan. He is determined to put a spanner in the works of the other racers as he has nothing to lose but everything to gain and will be putting his aggressive driving style to good use in the two races over the weekend.
In the Sporting Category too, the talented and bubbly Geraldine Read will be making her debut, driving under Team Excel Racing. The sole female racer in the competitive segment, Read drove the Vios in the Formula-1 Support Race recently and recently spent a day testing and setting up the car so she will be quietly confident in the coming race.
Another highly anticipated race will be the Promotional Category where celebrity drivers Fattah Amin, Shukri Yahaya, Diana Danielle, Janna Nick, Geraldine Gan, Danny Koo, Venice Min and Shawn Lee will be battling it out for glory. Beatboxer Shawn took charge in both the races in Batu Kawan but Shukri Yahaya and the rest of the celebrities are determined to step up their pace for the race in MAEPS now that the jitters of the opening race have been dispensed with.
Apart from the eight racing celebrities who will make their way down to the Main Stage to meet their fans, Media Prima will also be bringing their Drama Sangat bus tour celebrities to the event including such luminaries as Bell Ngasri, Chacha Maembong, Izzue Ashaari, Nad Zainal, Puteri Aishah, Raja Afiq and Zoey Rahman. These celebrities will also be giving away lots of prizes and souvenirs during their meet and greet sessions.
For a masterclass display of precision driving, spectators should not miss the drift show by world champion drifters Japan’s Masato Kawabata and Hideyuki Fujino. The pair will make their appearance courtesy of Gold Sponsors Toyo Tires, the pair will perform two 30-minute demonstrations daily, each showcasing their handling prowess of Toyota 86 drift cars.
With the Toyota RM1million Bonanza promotion offering up to RM1 million still up for grabs for those who purchase a brand new Toyota before the end of the year, the Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival is an excellent opportunity to pick up your favourite Toyota car as you will have the opportunity to view and test drive most of the new models right there at the venue. While you browse your favourite Toyota, sure to look out too for the all-new Toyota C-HR that will be on display in the car show booth.
On site will also be an opportunity to test drive Toyota’s amazing Hilux on a specially-constructed obstacle course. The superior traction of the advanced 4×4 system will clearly be demonstrated on the challenging steel ramps.
