IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN LAUNCHES THE FIRST CERATANIUM WATCH CASE

To mark the 50th anniversary of Aquatimer diver’s watches, IWC Schaffhausen has released a special edition with the first Ceratanium® case. This particular material is as light and unbreakable as titanium, but also as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramic.

It is a ground breaking choice, scoring well for its high skin tolerance and a striking matte black colour. The technical features of the watch include a digital perpetual calendar and a chronograph function. While it sounds like an unlikely combination of materials, IWC CEO Christoph Grainger-Herr says the brand isn’t afraid to innovate and try new things: “Since we already had a pioneering role in the use of titanium and ceramic in the 1980s, we are now once again highlighting our expertise with materials by employing Ceratanium.”

Only 50 units of the special edition Aquatimer will be made available with a selling price of USD52,000.
