When you think of China-made cars, you probably think of tacky designs, poor build quality and poor public response.
But that wasn’t the case at Gaikindo. There was just one prominent China brand with a booth and they only had one product on display. The Wu Ling Confero.
Wuling is a pretty large company in China. They build more than a MILLION vehicles (sometimes 1.5 million) every year. Of course, their products are aimed at poorer or most cost-conscious consumers.
Is there anything wrong with building vehicles specifically for this demographic? Not in our opinion. They need the mobility more than any other class.
And while we’re pretty sure the Malaysian consumer will ignore minivans like the Confero, it’s clear that Indonesians love it.
It’s decently designed, well-built and has engineering input from GM.
