The Breitling Avenger Hurricane is known for its beast like size that can be described by several ridiculous macho superlatives and they would all do it justice. The watch is not just known for its humungous dimensions, but also for its revolutionary case made from an ultra-light space age polymer. Breitling calls it ‘Breitlight’ and it is developed in-house by the brand. The polymer is three times lighter than titanium and six times lighter than steel and is fairly sturdy to endure a fair amount of punishment. But with the case being at 50mm, is probably too big for most people with average forearms and wrists.
For people without hulk-like arms, Breitling launched the Avenger Hurricane 45mm, a downsized version of the Avenger Hurricane 12H, which retains most of its essence from the original. The macho tactical appearance, the military inspired stencil style numerals, the Breitling produced B01 chronograph movement, the ultralight case material, all mounted on a rubber strap, that is as aesthetically pleasing as it’s older sibling. The major difference, however, is that the Avenger Hurricane 45mm misses out on the 24-hour dial option that comes on the 50mm iteration. This tactical and manly looking watch is a comfortable setup, courtesy of the special polymer and rubber backed textile strap.
