This is the Ford Responder, a F-150 four-wheel-drive, off-road model with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and 375 horsepower. This sports truck is expected to be available for purchase later next year, 2018 but only for the North American markets.
F-150 Police Responder joins the broadest lineup of law enforcement vehicles in the industry. In both cases, the term “pursuit rated” is better viewed as a measure of each machine’s ability to slide into typical patrol duty more than any notion of chasing down baddies at triple-digit speeds.
The F-150 Police Responder “can comfortably seat five, while providing capability in off-road patrol situations for officers in rural environments like sheriff’s departments, border patrol operations and Department of Natural Resources use”, said Stephen Tyler, Ford police brand marketing manager. The gear selector is column-mounted, freeing up vital console space for extra equipment, and the heavy-duty cloth front seats are equipped with anti-stab plating. That also means officers will be getting 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque capable of launching their gutted truck to 60 miles per hour in under six seconds. The Responder also has underbody skidplates to protect mechanical components from being damaged in off-road situations.
