Hyundai Tucson 1.6 Turbo GDI Now in Malaysia

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has rolled-out the new 1.6L Turbo GDI (T-GDI) variant of the Tucson, which is packed with a host of new convenient features.

Priced at RM145,588 (OTR price without insurance), the turbocharged 1.6L T-GDI petrol engine that is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission delivers 177 PS at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 265 Nm from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. The Hyundai-developed dual-clutch transmission offers outstanding efficiency with quick, seamless shifting and brisk acceleration.

Compared with some of the competitors’ continuously-variable transmissions, the DCT is able to handle more torque with minimal power interruption throughout the powertrain operating range for a natural acceleration characteristic while offering greater durability.

Apart from the new powerful powertrain, this new variant is also bundled with convenient features such as LED positioning headlamps with static bending lights; Auto Hold function that automatically holds the brake steady once the vehicle has come to a complete stop; and a smart powered tailgate which opens at the approach of the key-holder. The 1.6L T-GDI Tucson also features newly designed rims.

“With the launch of the 1.6L T-GDI variant with more variants to come, we hope to expand our SUV offerings and cater to more market segments. We will be introducing more Tucson variants in the coming months,” said Lau Yit Mun, Managing Director of HSDM.

The Tucson benefits from a solid body structure featuring 51% ultra-high strength steel for improved torsional rigidity and impact resistance and a host of innovative passive and active safety features. As with all Hyundai models, the Tucson also features Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hillstart Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Brake Control (DBC) and the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with an Automatic Vehicle Hold feature. It is also fully equipped with six airbags for all round safety.

Designed based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design theme, the Tucson employs refined aesthetics with sculpted body form and sporty contours for an athletic, bold and striking appearance. The front of the Tucson is dominated by the Hyundai signature hexagonal front grille, which connects to the headlamps to create a distinctive identity.

On the inside, a premium wrapped instrument panel is offered, with extra-wide instrument panel contours to enhance the occupants’ overall sense of interior roominess. Interior touch points have been upgraded with premium, soft-touch materials and an all interior switchgear with a more refined feel during operation.

Optional accessories with added costs, such as two leather packages for seats and interior door trimmings (red and white colour options), body kit and 19-inch rims are available for customers who would like to enhance the look of their Tucson.

All Tucson variants are entitled to 50,000 km free service with three-year validity. HSDM also offers a five-year or 300,000 km (whichever comes first) warranty on all its new passenger vehicles. A 24-hour road assist service is available now for new and existing Hyundai vehicles.
