Singling out a winner from so many great new product launches was no easy task. But we knew early on that the victor would have to be a car available to a large section of the market, so that ruled out the premium cars. Our vehicle of the year would also need to be a game-changer – something that gave Malaysians what they wanted before they even knew they wanted it. That’s why, the clear winner had to be the new Civic.
Honda shook the entire industry when they launched the Civic last year. This product was so successful; it even took sales from the D-segment. While 2 turbocharged trim levels are available, we think that the 1.8-litre base model is the best all-rounder. You still get an extremely eye-catching car, with most of the tech intact – but the engine outfitted here has proven reliability, having served on the previous Civic as well as on the HR-V. In addition, the asking price on this model makes it attainable to more Malaysians.
