The selling price of the Kia Stinger in Korea has just been announced at USD27,000 for the 2-liter turbo and a high USD42,000 with full option V6 rivaling a BMW 4-series sedan in Korea.
The Kia Stinger GT is the car that auto enthusiasts have been waiting for. It’s attractive. It’s powerful. It is quick, even with the 225bhp 4-cylinder engine. It is a rear-wheel-drive sport sedan in a world where front-wheel drive is rapidly spreading and it was benchmarked against the BMW 4 Series by its designers and engineers. We estimate the ricing for the 2-liter Stinger to be just below RM170k and for the V6, if it comes….about RM199k.
Kia, a company known for affordable front-wheel-drive cars, has decided to build a fastback rear-wheel-drive sedan aimed squarely at the BMW 4 Series. Yes, Kia has set its sights on the performance sedan segment and they ready for the games to begin.
The Kia Stinger GT looks like a performance sedan. It’s handsome and stylish, with styling proportions reminiscent of an Audi A7 with the design aggression of the new Alfa Giulia. The Stinger GT will offer either a 255-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder and this is probably the model coming to Malaysia. This version weighs in at just 1640kg.
The 365-hp twin-turbo V6 version of the Kia Stinger will not arrive for sure due to its high price and engine size for non favorable Malaysian road tax fees. But this engine will allow the Stinger to do the 0-100km/h run in about 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 270km/h.
Kia took the Stinger GT to the Nurburgring for testing during development and it did very well. With its 114.4-inch wheelbase, the Stinger features a longer wheelbase than many of its competitors, a trait that lends itself to better high-speed stability and road-trip worthiness. The Kia Stinger features a very low seating position, just like with the BMW 4 Series and it is also quite spacious. More information on the Stinger will be shared soon.
