The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest organized by UWM Toyota Motor concluded the National phase with more than 1,300 artworks received by many talented children for this year. It was definitely an unforgettable day for nine lucky children as their artworks were selected as winning masterpieces at the National phase and to compete in the World Contest phase in August 2017. For the National phase, winners were chosen from three age categories: under 8 years old, 8 to 11 years old and 12 to 15 years old.
Since 2004, Toyota Dream Car Art Contest has been introduced as part of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Japan’s social contribution initiatives. It gives children throughout the globe opportunity to submit drawings of their dream car for evaluation by experts, at national level and finally at the world stage. The objective of this contest is to inculcate interest in developing ideas on future vehicles of mobility.
“The Toyota Dream Car Art contest aims to develop talents amongst children and teenagers to express their ideas on futuristic mobility through art form, by drawing their dream car. I also would like to congratulate the nine lucky winners for their efforts and creativity that made it through to the World Contest”, says the Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor, Akio Takeyama.
The national level winning artworks were sent to TMC in Japan for final selection at the World Contest phase. The winners of the World Contest will win a trip to Tokyo, Japan to attend the awards ceremony in August 2017.
“Apart from enhancing their skills in conceptualizing ideas and translating it into visual art, the aspirants also realize the joy and importance of having a dream through this participation,” said Ravindran Kurusamy, President of UMW Toyota Motor. He also congratulated all winners who will represent Malaysia at the World Contest and hope that some of them will be the global winners.
The 9 talented winners at Malaysia national level are, Lim Wei Wen, Choo Han Yean, Chew Xin Ni in the under 8 years old category, Lee Pei Lin, Tan Ee Ven, Lim Xiao Yun in the 8 to 11 years old category and Charmaine Lim, Chee Ying Xuan, Lim Yuan Qian in the 12 to 15 years ago segment.
Winners of each category received prizes for their efforts at the National level. The first prize in every category was an Apple iPad Mini 4. Those who clinched second were given mountain bikes and the third contenders received 2 tickets each to the Legoland theme park in Johor.
The annually organized Toyota Dream Car Art Contest reflect Toyota’s commitment to promoting art, as part of its social contribution in country it operates.
