We have done our research and realized that in Malaysia you cannot buy a 2-wheel drive double cab pickup truck with an automatic gearbox from an established brand.
A quick look at the 7 biggest pickup truck brands in Malaysia, Toyota, Isuzu, Ford, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Chevrolet and Nissan will reveal a wide range of offerings but there are NO 2-wheel drive, double cab, automatic driven pickup trucks for sale.
You can however buy one in Thailand and Indonesia, but not in Malaysia. WHY?
With the prices of pickup trucks being very favorable for the car buyer in relation to much lower import taxes, it makes good sense to buy a pickup truck, but the Malaysian family or even the average lifestyle truck buyer does not need the weighty and expensive 4×4 system that comes with the pickup truck.
Also with the family buyer who uses the truck in the city, having an automatic gearbox would be great.
So what do we need to do to get a new pickup truck with an automatic gearbox, double cab for the family to get comfortable and an automatic gearbox for inner city commuting in comfort?
