Black taxis with a large radiator grill and high roof are as much a part of the London cityscape as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye. The Vito Taxi from Mercedes-Benz has been among the so-called “black cabs” since 2008. Now it has been completely renewed.
The new Vito Taxi impresses with comfortable and generous spaciousness for up to six passengers and offers barrier-free access for wheel-chair users. Electrically operated sliding doors on both sides, electrically extendable entrance steps on the left and right, air-conditioning and a start/stop function all come as standard. The new Vito Taxi is equipped with numerous assistance systems to help it make its way safely through the busy streets of London. For example, ATTENTION ASSIST will alert the driver if he or she shows signs of fatigue or inattentiveness. Further assistance systems such as Blind Spot Assist and Active Parking Assist are optionally available.
The new Vito Taxi is specially modified, as was its predecessor, in order to gain taxi approval in the English capital. Thanks to a specifically designed rear-steering axle, it complies with the stipulation of a 7.62m turning circle. Mercedes-Benz is one of just two automobile manufacturers to have received the sought-after taxi approval.
In addition to the specially modified variant for London, the new Vito Taxi is also available as a “National Taxi” without a rear-steering axle for regions outside of London.
