Allianz Malaysia recently held a road safety advocacy campaign in conjunction with the Lunar New Year celebrations at Jalan Istana Larut, Taiping. The campaign aims to instill road safety awareness among the public as they travel to their respective hometowns to celebrate the occasion with their family and friends.
The campaign, conducted together with Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya Malaysia (JKJR), also took place front of JPJ Melaka office in Bukit Katil, Malacca. Allianz Malaysia also supported JKJR in their National Road Safety Campaign held at the Mines Toll Plaza along the Sungai Besi highway and at the Permy Jaya Shell petrol station in Miri.
Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good of Allianz Malaysia Berhad said, “Road safety advocacy campaigns held during festive seasons were in addition to the usual road safety advocacy campaigns held by Allianz Malaysia as more people traversed the highways during such periods.”
“With more vehicles on the roads, the likelihood of accidents also increases and we want to remind the public to travel safely and reach their destinations safely as festivals are when families look forward to being with their loved ones. It should be a happy occasion for everyone,” she added.
At the road safety advocacy campaigns, a total of 1,200 reflective stickers and 200 reflective windbreakers were distributed to motorcyclists, while 120 sets of car shoulder pads along with 120 safety hammers were given away to motorists. Not only that, a total of 60 child safety booster seats were also handed out to motorists with young children.
The road safety advocacy campaigns were conducted with particular emphasis on motorcyclists, which have the highest road fatality rate in the country. Allianz Malaysia hopes that it can play a role in reducing the road fatality rate through its partnership with JKJR.
