The 250cc segment in the Indian market now gets even tougher thanks to the launch of the hotly anticipated Yamaha FZ25. The naked street bike will go toe to toe with the likes of KTM Duke 200 and TVS Apache RTR 200.
As far as the design is concerned, the FZ25 retains the current styling element of the FZ lineup with muscular lines all over the body and a sporty forward posture. Its range of equipment includes LED lights at both ends, as well as separate seats with anti-slip material cover.
The bike also features an LCD instrument cluster with a fully digital display with plenty of useful information for the rider including a trip meter and a fuel economy indicator.
The FZ25 is powered by a 249 cc, single-cylinder engine with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology that produces 20.9 PS at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. According to the Japanese manufacturer, the engine has been fine-tuned and optimised for the Indian traffic environment, particularly in the intake/exhaust system and ignition system.
The mill also benefits from a lightweight forged aluminium piston, plated cylinder with heat dissipation and thin piston rings for reduced power loss. A balancer is added to keep the vibrations at a minimum.
For the Indian market, the new Yamaha FZ25 is priced at 115,900 rupees (RM7,819). The bike is offered in three colours: Ballistic Blue, Knight Black and Warrior White.
