The new Perodua Axia facelift has been launched today at the MYPerodua Nation carnival, which is happening today until Sunday at the outdoor car park of the Aeon Shah Alam shopping mall.
Available in Standard E, Standard G, SE and Advance variants, the new Axia comes with a host of cosmetic upgrades, notably the newly designed grille, projector headlamps as well as front and rear bumpers. Also new for the hatchback is the back door handle.
Changes in the cabin are minimal, apart from silver trim on the centre console and steering wheel for variants Standard G and above. and revised instrument cluster with white illumination for the SE and Advance. The two variants are also equipped with push start/stop button and smart entry system with smart key.
For infotainment, the Advance is the sole variant to feature a multimedia system with “Smart Link” for Android phones. The SE is equipped with an AM/FM radio unit with USB and Bluetooth, while the Standard G gets the same unit without the Bluetooth.
On the technical front, the Axia now comes with VVT-i, which helps to increase fuel efficiency from 21.6 km per liter previously to 22.5 km per litre. The 1.0 litre, three-cylinder engine produces 67 hp at 6,000 rpm and 91 Nm at 4,400 rpm, which is channeled to the wheels via a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
The safety features have been retained with two airbags and ABS with EBD equipped in all variants except Standard E. The Axia comes in six colours – Ebony Black, Glittering Silver, Ivory White, Midnight Blue, as well as Lava Red Metallic and Sunflower Yellow exclusively for the SE and Advance variants.
