Haval M4 Now Known As H1

Having been launched in Malaysia in 2014, the Haval M4 is now officially known as Haval H1. The name swap came after the manufacturer, China-based Great Wall Motors Company Limited, rebranded Haval in an effort to boost its sales internationally as the company aspires to conquer the international market, especially in ASEAN.

Like before, the H1 is available in Comfort, Premium and Elite variants. The selling price also remains unchanged, starting from RM61,950 for the Comfort, RM67.950 for the Premium and RM74,950 for the range-topping Elite. All prices quoted are on-the-road without insurance. All variants come with a seven-year warranty with unlimited mileage for added peace of mind.

In terms of design, the H1 features some new changes including a sportier chrome front grille, as well as Haval logos on the steering wheel, boot and seats.

The B-segment SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder VVT MPI engine that churns out 105 hp at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm at 4,200 rpm. The mill is mated to a six-speed AMT gearbox that drives the front axle. The five-speed manual that was available with the M4 will not be offered with the H1.

Equipment-wise, the H1 comes equipped with halogen headlights with LED strips, LED fog lamps, leather seats, built-in Smart Tag, digital console with GPS and Battery Alert Ssstem (BAS). It is offered in six colours – Titanium White, Sky Silver, Fashionable Orange, Pearl Black, Ocean Blue and Jazz Red.

In the meantime, Haval has also introduced the “Buy Back Guarantee” scheme starting January 2017. The scheme is to assure its vehicle owners receive 50% of its resale value should the SUVs are resold to the company within five years.
