This is one of the latest projects completed by Art Studio Vilner. It’s based on a S 63 AMG which is the top spec S-Class, except S 65 AMG and the Maybach, which is actually a separate model.
The client wanted this S 63 with 585 hp with a top spec interior. But the problem was that the AMG and Designo options lists were not able to fulfill all of his wishes, which led ‘The King’ (the customer wanted from us to not reveal his actual name) to the Art Studio Vilner.
Quilted leather and Alcantara, that’s the main theme here. White contrast stitching even on the floor mats, which are made from fine leather. The two sides of the dashboard are also covered in quilted Alcantara, although they usually remain hidden by the closed doors. That cross stitching can be seen on the central sections of the seats, by the sides of the central tunnel and on the headliner as well. The boot lid ‘internals’ are also wrapped in fine quilted Alcantara.
One of the important elements of the interior is the steering wheel, because it’s the main instrument that connects the driver with the car itself. How it feels in the hands is as important as its look. Alcantara sections and fine Napa leather are all there. Typically for Vilner, the housing of the rear view mirror is wrapped in Alcantara and the same can be seen covering all the stock left bare plastic details.
You can see also that the ‘egg’ that contains the telephone controls is also Alcantara wrapped. Near by is located another ‘Vilnerised’ detail that is never too small – the button for for the armrest compartment cover – which typically wears a tinted silver enamel – now is blacked. The same is done to the wooden trim pieces that are now finished in Piano Gloss Black. The result is a black kingdom of luxury, in the exact state that ‘The King’ wanted it to be.
This project may be not so into the spirit of the other Vilner creations, but it had been created with the same traditional and pedantic pursuit of quality. And most important in the end of the day, according to the taste of the happy client. A pretty curious project.
