After an eight year absence, the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship returns to one of its most popular venues, Taiping, Perak for the grand finale of the 2016 season. The 1.466km temporary street circuit at the Kawasan Perindustrian Kamunting Raya, north of Taiping, will set the stage for the final battles for all six classes. The newly crafted street circuit is expected to be a fast track comprising of two long straights and seven challenging corners.
“Taiping is a special venue for the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship. As the home town of the Sham brothers (Ahmad Fazli Sham and Ahmad Fazrul Sham), the siblings command a legion of fans in the northern Perak district. Crowd attendance is expected to soar,” said Shafry Azizan, Cub Prix’s Operations Chief.
“Lack of a suitable race venue had forced the series to move away from Taiping for almost a decade. Like the fans, we too are glad to be heading back to Taiping.”
The CP130 title had already been sealed by Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin in Round 9. Also confirmed for second overall position in the premiere class, is Ahmad Fazli Sham. However, the race for the CP115 and Wira titles will only be concluded at the chequered flag in Taiping.
In celebration of the final leg of the season, fans can also expect to be treated to special performances from Malaysian artistes Sham Kamikaze, Ali of XPDC and the Projector Band.
