The new Focus is, without a doubt, one of the best looking vehicles on the road. Because the company decided to revamp the drivetrain options, they had to really update the design in an impactful way to reflect this big change. And they sure did. The goal was to add a new dimension of emotion to the design of Focus. The new Focus is more toned and athletic, with more refined surface language which clearly offers a promise of the drive experience to come.
Few manufacturers take design as seriously as Ford, so it’s no surprise that the new Focus has styling that blows the competition out of the water. Because it’s sold as both a 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback, Ford have gone out of their way to create a front end that works well with either form factor.
Despite sharing many key components with the outgoing Focus, this new one is a whole different beast. It’s lower, with a wider stance, and of course that new signature Ford grille. The slimmer, sharper headlamps look great here, giving the Focus a more premium look while building on its sporty heritage. The rear is cleaner too, with more sophisticated body lines and a refreshed tail light design.
Those who love looking at the details will notice how the bonnet is sculpted directly from the A-pillars – a design feature usually found on more premium marques. It’s clear that nearly every aspect of the car’s exterior has been reworked, to give the car a sportier, more premium outlook.
Yes, the Focus has come a long way. But what’s really amazing is how Ford has preserved its identity. The Focus started its life as an extremely special machine – it had to, as it was replacing the legendary Escort. As a result, it featured some stand-out design features that suited its sporty character. The new Focus carries that legacy forward, looking as special as the way it drives – as always.
