Next Bike, the official importer and distributor of Ducati in Malaysia, has officially launched five new models as a run up to the 2016 Malaysian MotoGP that will be happening at the Sepang International Circuit next week from 28 to 30 October.
959 Panigale
This “supermid” shares the same stylistic features as the 1299 Panigale but comes with an engine designed for everyday usability as well as race track performance. The 955 cc twin-cylinder unit is now Euro 4 compliant and develops 157 hp at 10,500 rpm.
Weighing 176 kg, the 959 is packed with a myriad of race-derived technologies including Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Riding Mode with Ride-by-Wire, triple-stage Bosch ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) as well as Engine Brake Control (EBC).
The 959 Panigale is available in traditional Ducati red with black wheels or Arctic White with red wheels. It is priced at RM99,999.
Hypermotard 939
Like the version before it, the new Hypermotard 939 is also available in Hypermotard 939 SP and Hyperstrada 939 versions. The Hypermotard 939 offers the combination of sports riding and versatility, the Hypermotard 939 SP with its top-class performance especially for track use while the Hyperstrada 939 is highly practical for daily commute and medium-distance trips.
All three bikes share the same 937 cc Testastretta engine that packs 113 hp and 10% increase in torque. It also comes with the Ducati Safety Pack which includes a two-level ABS (three-level for the SP), DTC and three riding modes – all cocooned in a steel tube trellis frame.
The on-the-road price for the Hypermotard 939 is RM70,999.
Monster 1200 R
The most powerful and sophisticated version of the Monster family, the 1200 R boasts 160 hp and 131.5 Nm of torque courtesy of a 1,200 cc Testastretta “R” engine, which delivers 10% more power and 5.5% more torque compared to the 1200 S.
The naked bike is equipped with new suspensions and Ohlins steering damper, as well as separate rider and passenger footpegs to enhance the riding experience. It is also lighter than the 1200 S thanks to the new tailpipe, forged wheels and carbon fibre components.
Available in Ducati Red and Thrilling Black, the Monster 1200 R retails at RM139,999.
Multistrada 1200 Enduro
Thanks to 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, as well as electronic semi-active Sachs suspension, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro is perfect for long-distance adventures. Its 30-litre fuel tank also enables a range that can exceed 450 km.
The new look is complemented with an extensive electronics package that includes Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Cornering ABS, Cornering Lights, DTC, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) and for the first time on a Ducati, Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) to assist riders in uphill starts.
The Multistrada 1200 Enduro comes in Ducati Red, Phantom Grey and Star White, and can be personalised with items from the Ducati Performance accessory catalogue by Touratech which includes Enduro, Touring, Sport and Urban packages. It is priced at RM129,999.
XDiavel
The XDiavel ensures “low speed excitement” typical of a cruiser and the performance of a Ducati. Powering what the manufacturer calls a “power cruiser” is a 1,262 cc Testastretta DVT engine with an output of 156 hp and 128.5 Nm of torque. It also has a maximum lean angle of 40 degrees.
Interestingly, the XDiavel offers a total of 60 different ergonomic configurations for the rider with four different footrest positions, five seat positions and three different handlebar positions. Additionally, customers have the option to choose between a regular seat and a comfort seat with a backrest.
Other features include DTC, Cornering ABS, Riding Modes, Cruise COntrol and Ducati Power Launch (DPL). The XDiavel only comes in a black-only colour scheme, with a price of RM135,999 a pop.
