Looks like the 2018 Toyota Camry will retain some of its predecessors’ design features (with some interesting curves added) and proportions. The redesigned sedan is expected to feature more aluminum body panels, helping to shed weight, but offer more rigidity when it shifts to the Toyota New Global Architecture modular platform.
Toyota is expected to swap out the Camry’s automatic transmission for a continuously variable transmission and possibly offer a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder in place of the 2.5 engine option. The hybrid also will return for the 2018 model year.
With the new platform and powertrain changes, the next Camry figures to offer improved fuel economy, ride and handling and additional safety and driver-assistance features. It is expected to go on sale in the middle of 2017 as a 2018 model.
