The much awaited Perodua Bezza sedan is will be open for bookings at 181 Perodua showrooms across the country from 16th July. The Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) is fully designed by Malaysians with support from Daihatsu Motor Company of Japan.
According to Perodua President & CEO Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, the Bezza takes inspiration from the word ‘Beza’ in Bahasa Malaysia, which means ‘different’, while the double ‘Z’ in the name, resembles the number ‘22’, subtly alludes to the fact that Perodua has been in the market for 22 years.
The sedan is offered in five variants, the 1.0L manual & automatic transmission; the 1.3L “Premium X” manual & automatic transmission; and the 1.3L “Advance Version” automatic transmission. The 1.0L version is powered by the new 1KR-VE engine with VVT-i while the 1.3L models come with 1NR-VE engine with Dual VVT-i.
The Bezza 1.0L engine may reach up to 22.8km per litre for its manual transmission, while the automatic transmission can potentially travel 21.3 kilometres per litre with eco driving.
Meanwhile, with eco driving, the 1.3-litre manual transmission variant can potentially travel up to 21.7 kilometres per litre, while the automatic transmission can travel 22 kilometres per litre with ‘Eco Idle’ System which is available only in the Advance variant. The full tank can potentially provide up to 792 km of driving.
The ‘Eco Idle’ system automatically stops the engine when the car is idle and restarts upon release of the brake, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Drivers can deactivate this feature if they wish. Another first for Perodua is the push start/stop button and smart entry with smart key available in the 1.3L models.
Aminar adds that the Bezza was developed based on feedback from respondents from both urban and rural areas nationwide. Therefore, the foldable 60:40 rear seats can be folded into 8 +1 seating configurations to allow for maximum flexibility.
On the multimedia paraphilia, the Bezza 1.3L Advance variant is equipped with a multimedia-mobile link device for Android gadgets, along with applications such as Waze and Google Maps. On top of these features, rear passengers can also charge their devices at a USB port located at the rear centre console.
Other features such as shark fin antenna, remote boot release, one-touch power window with jam protection, front and front corner sensors, reverse camera as well as reserve sensors are also included.
The 1.3L Advance variant comes equipped with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Brake Assist, Traction Control and Hill Start Assist to qualify for a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating. Other variants are equipped with ABS, EBD and speed sensing wiper that changes speed in-line with the vehicle’s acceleration.
The car comes in six different colours, which include Sugar Brown and Ocean Blue for 1.3L variants, which are new metallic colours for Perodua, as well as existing colours of Lava Red, Ebony Black, Glittering Silver and Solid Ivory White. Prices will be announced on 21st July.
