Ducati celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, and to commemorate the special occasion, a limited edition model was launched at the recent World Ducati Week that took place in Misano, Italy.
Like the name suggests, the Anniversario Edition takes the 1299 Panigale S as the basis, and dresses the mouth-watering superbike in Ducati’s traditional colours of red, black and white, finished off with gold-painted Marchesini wheels to pay homage to the company’s motorsport arm.
Cosmetic updates are never enough for the Anniversario and that’s why it’s been equipped with Akrapovič titanium exhaust system, aluminium mirror blockoff plates, along with carbon fibre rear mudguard, heel guards and shock-absorber cover, shaving off 2.7 kg in the process. With aluminium steering-head inserts and new triple top clamp, the bike is said to have the same chassis geometry as the Panigale R.
The list of electronics start with DTC EVO, which is the latest iteration of Ducati’s Traction Control that lets riders drift their way out of the corner. Impressive. Others include Cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Electronic Suspension and Ohlins Smart EC.
The Panigale S already has a lot of power (205 hp and 144.6 Nm of torque to be precise), so the 1,285 cc V-twin remains untouched.
There will only be 500 units of these and each will come its own production series number etched onto the triple top clamp.
