The Volkswagen Eos has become a ‘One Hit Wonder’ since it was discontinued in late 2015. The two-door hard-top convertible was introduced as a 2007 model (pictured above) replacing the dated 3rd generation Golf Cabriolet. Since the Eos is now retired (last version pictured below) Volkswagen only has the Beetle and 6th generation Golf as the only convertible in its lineup. But the Beetle is destined for retirement also.
Although that is one more drop-top than most car brands have, Volkswagen almost always had two in the product portfolio. Perhaps the departure of the Eos is a sign that the German automaker is keeping the Golf Cabrio as its main drop top. In its seven year run the Volkswagen Eos has had only one facelift in 2012 to keep on par with VW’s brand identity.
