Back in 1966, Ford did the seemingly impossible when they took a 1-2-3 victory at Le Mans with the Ford GT40. Their stellar victory came at the expense of Ferrari, a company which Henry Ford II had tried to purchase, but was rebuffed by Enzo Ferrari, thus sparking a racing rivalry between the two companies.
50 years later, Ford did it again this month when it won in the GTE Class, and yet again their most formidable competitor was Ferrari, with the two manufacturers exchanging leads multiple times throughout the long endurance race. The Fords took 1st and 3rd place, with the #82 Ferrari 488 of Risi Competizione taking 2nd place.
