Jack Le Brocq and James Golding just had the best finish of the Supercars Dunlop Series this season, separated by three-hundredths of a second crossing the line side by side. After winning yesterday’s race under red flag conditions, Le Brocq had the chance to run to the finish as the leader and he had to work hard for it.
It was a drag race down the front straight with Golding getting his GRM Commodore up the inside on the final corner. But the Prodrive Falcon had the goods, just inching home ahead of his competitor.
Le Brocq lined up on pole position after his win yesterday, but dropped back off the start, with veteran Paul Dumbrell taking the lead early.
It was trouble for series leader Garry Jacobson, who was involved in an incident that ended with him bogged in the sand at turn six. Andrew Jones also flew into the sand trap but was able to power back on track. That caused a safety car early and rookie Anton De Pasquale was penalised with a pit lane drive through. Le Brocq snatched the lead on lap five at the final corner, and behind him young West Australians Kurt Kostecki and Alex Rullo took top 10 finishes, Kostecki fourth and 15-year old Rullo sixth.
