Harley-Davidson finally rolls out its new flat-tracker in 44 years and my God it looks awesome. Replacing the venerable XR750, the new XG750R is set to make its racing debut with the Screamin’ Eagle factory team this Sunday at the AMA Pro Flat Track Springfield Mile in Illinois.
Some credit has to be given to the brainiacs at Vance & Hines Motorsports, who helped with the development of the XG750R’s racing frame and engine. The latter, which is a 750cc “Revolution X” V-twin unit plucked from the production series Street 750, features fuel injection and liquid cooling system to help it withstand the extreme heat in the competition.
Donning Harley-Davidson’s Dark Custom design scheme, the XG750R features a special two-tone red/black livery that makes it look like a different bike from each side. A bit like Harvey Dent, if you will.
According to the company, the XG750R is “strictly for race competition and will not be offered for sale at this time.” That said, we have a feeling that they probably will think about coming up with something similar if there’s enough attention and demand.
