No carmaker with ambition to become a proper world leader (specifically in sales performance) can risk to ignore the Chinese market. This is the exact reason why even Peugeot has set its eyes on this Asian giant which was announced as part of the PSA Group ‘Push to Pass’ strategy. This plan, named ‘Blue Upper’ will be executed together with Dongfeng Peugeot.
Blue Upper has a clear ambition: within 5 years to make Dongfeng Peugeot the benchmark top-of-the-range brand in China and to join the Top 10 most sold brands on the world’s primary market. For now, they plan to launch 18 new vehicles in the next 5 years.
And it starts with the world premiere of the new 308 sedan presented at the ongoing Beijing motor show.
Sitting on top of the EMP2 platform, the 308 sedan has been restyled with a stylised front end featuring a chequered flag radiator grille and athletic profile. At the rear, a new light signature, with three strokes on a black background, offers a very contemporary and immediately recognisable design.
Let it be known, however, that the 308 sedan is made specifically for the Chinese market.
Also making its debut at Beijing is the Peugeot 3008.
