When I was in my teens, I found the Alphard’s presence on Malaysian roads a little unsettling. Unlike the Estima that Toyota also produced, the Alphards (and the sportier Vellfires) seemed to lack any sort of grace. For the longest time, I dismissed them as mere minibuses, but as I learnt from this review, there’s a lot more to the story than its sheer size.
