All eyes are on the Polestar Cyan Racing team as they embark on their first season competing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) as a Volvo works team. After the first test session at Vallelunga in Italy earlier this month, we can see that their pace is encouraging compared to the other rivals.
And with the start of the new season – and the squad’s WTCC debut – getting ever closer, Volvo’s performance brand has produced this video, which goes behind the scenes at the test and looks ahead to the upcoming campaign when Thed Björk and Fredrik Ekblom will race a pair of Volvos S60 Polestar TC1s.
Volvo’s participation in the WTCC is an important factor to their marketing strategy, particularly for the Polestar brand and the performance products specifically engineered for Volvo models.
During the launch of the Polestar Performance Parts recently, Henrik Fries, R&D Director of Polestar said, “The secret of our success on the tracks is in creating balanced and precise cars that are predictable for the driver to control in all situations. Lessons learned on the tracks are transferred directly into the development of our road cars and performance products. The new range of Polestar Performance Parts is no exception, they are designed and developed with the very same philosophy.”
The first WTCC race for this 2016 season will be held at Circuit Paul Ricard, France, from 1-3 April.
