Did you know that the Alfa Sprint was based on the infamous Alfasud? The Sprint shared the hot hatchbacks wheelbase and was initially fitted with just a 75hp 1.3L petrol engine.
Later on, in 1979, a new 1.5L petrol engine was also available, with a gain in performance of up to 95hp. This was the version that initially arrived in Malaysia under City Motors (the 1st Alfa dealer in Malaysia).
New plastic bumpers and exterior trim were introduced in 1980, while the 1.5L engine received another power boost to 105hp. Despite the fact that all Alfasud saloon cars were discontinued in 1983, the Sprint version continued until 1989 under the name of Alfa Romeo Sprint and today it is a very rare and desirable classic coupe.
