AC Schnitzer has prepared a special BMW for the Geneva Motor Show opening soon on March 3, 2016. While the starting point was an M 235i, the tuning firm from Aachen replaced the stock engine with one from the M4, to raise the bar substantially even before outside performance enhancements.
The company has not published complete details on all that was done to the engine, but we do know that there is an optimized carbon fibre intake, an exhaust system with a new downpipe, and new sports silencer with catalytic converter.
New programming of the control unit eliminates the speed limiter and with an engine that now produces 570hp, it is enough to propel the car to the century in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed is 330km/h.
The standard axles and carbon strut braces are also borrowed from the M4 which work with the height adjustable AC Schnitzer Clubsport suspension and support bearings for optimal handling.
The bodywork showcases a number of new aerodynamic components from AC Schnitzer. The front reveals a skirt with front spoiler and splitter, plus carbon front side wings. The hood is made from carbon fibre while the most noticeable change is the wheel arch extensions in the front with air outlets and 3 air deflector wings. A similar design exists behind the rear wheel with 2 air deflector wings. These changes widen the vehicle by a substantial 140mm.
The rear showcases a carbon rear diffuser and carbon racing rear wing with Gurney flap.
