Volkswagen has just announced a new family of turbocharged 1.5-liter engines is being prepared for a 2017 launch. VW brand CEO Herbert Diess revealed plans to introduce 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol and diesel engines in the upcoming next generation VW Golf.
The turbocharged 1.5-liter petrol engine will serve as a direct successor of the current 1.4 TSI and is going to come with cylinder deactivation technology, as well as direct-injection and a new turbocharger.
The new engine will be lighter and more frugal than the current units, but will also be more expensive to make.
Eventually, they will make their way under the hood of cars like the Polo and Tiguan, but also in the ranges of Audi, Seat, and Skoda cars.
