It’s almost as if the other teams have given up. Mercedes AMG Petronas continues to dominate in the F1 championship standings, even though their drivers are so far ahead of the competition that the titles are already decided. Still, as a matter of procession the F1 championship continues.
Hamilton took a more backseat approach in P2, finishing the race just 2 seconds behind Rosberg. Rosberg managed to set the fastest lap of the race, just 0.2 seconds faster than Hamilton. No doubt there’s still a little bit of friction between the two drivers, what with Hamilton already claiming the championship, but Rosberg can at the very least take some of the attention away with these last few races.
The first place finish for Rosberg also lets him reclaim the second position in the overall driver’s championship from Vettel, with 21 more points than him in the current standings. Hamilton remains 73 points ahead of Rosberg.
