The Mercedes-AMG DTM Team are giving six talented drivers the chance to test the 2015 DTM championship-winning car at the young driver tests in Jerez de la Frontera this week. Testing begins Tuesday 1 December and ends Thursday 3 December. A familiar face, Maro Engel, will be back in a DTM car this week. The German lined up with Mercedes-Benz in the DTM for four years during 2008-2011. Last week, he won the inaugural FIA GT World Cup on the legendary Guia street circuit in Macau at the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
Fellow German Marvin Kirchhöfer competed in Abu Dhabi last weekend in the season finale of the GP3 series which was run under the Formula 1 banner. The ex-Formula ADAC and German Formula 3 Champion finished his second GP3 season in third place overall with ART Grand Prix.
Jazeman Jaafar from Malaysia has raced in Formula Renault 3.5 for the past three years. He finished in eighth place this season.
Danish driver Mikkel Jensen won the 2014 Formula ADAC and completed his debut season in the FIA Formula 3 Championship this year. Fellow Dane Kevin Magnussen acted as test and reserve driver to the McLaren Formula 1 team this season. The son of former DTM driver Jan Magnussen contested his debut season in the premier class of motor racing with McLaren-Mercedes in 2014. He placed eleventh with 55 championship points.
Raffaele Marciello won the 2013 FIA Formula 3 European Championship with the Mercedes-Benz Formula 3 engine and moved up to the GP2 series the following year. During the past two years, the Italian has undertaken Formula 1 testing for Scuderia Ferrari and the Sauber F1 Team. The two ADAC GT Masters champions Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig will also take part in DTM testing this Monday and will test the Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM as a reward for their achievements this season.
